Unit 5 is about different teaching themes suggesting techniques to apply to different contexts. In the first section we learnt about the case study tool, to give our students practise and also introduce new vocabulary. The important thing is to choose the right case study and explain well the activity before it takes place. Then we considered a process called Frameworking, it's the use of a model (input-process-output) to study the language of change from past to future. This method can help to practise tenses. The problem based learning method, instead, is good for communicative purposes because let students work in groups to solve problems. In the next sections we talked about games that we can be adapted to use in the classroom, such as Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit or Battle: it's a fun way to practise. Here is important to choose the teaching point first and then choose the most suitable game to use. Computer Aided language learning takes advantage of the fact that our students are working adults so they have easily access to internet. Internet provides opportunities to research topics and also provide authentic materials. The Speech Act Theory is useful for negotiating, making offers and requests and questioning. it can help to overcome problems created by cross cultural mistakes. To give us realistic examples and to get an idea of lesson materials, unit 5 ends up with a series of lessons plans that cover different topics and levels.
