Teach English in Maichen Zhen - Zhanjiang Shi
In this lesson, I learnt about productive skills. The first of the productive skills is speaking. We speak because of a need for something or a desire to achieve something. Accuracy and fluency are both vital. The ability to speak without interruption and use language correctly are both equally important to speech. Each phase of a lesson will focus on one of those two things (fluency and accuracy). It's important to focus on the accuracy of language in the study phase of a lesson and fluency in the activate phase of a lesson. There are three types of activities; controlled, guided, and creative. A controlled activity has a lot more structure than a guided activity. Controlled activities should be used in the study phase, guided activities can be used in either Study or Activate phases and creative activities should be used in the Activate phase. In activities that involve creating language, I need to generate interest in an activity before we start and make sure the students have the language knowledge necessary to complete the activity. Using pairs in activities allows for more interaction and reduces stress within these types of activities. The second of the productive skills is writing. The skill of writing has a number of sub skills such as handwriting, spelling, and punctuation. Writing can be categorized into situational or creative writing. Situational writing is a category pertaining to things such as post cards and business emails.
