A well planned out lesson should also come with well thought ideas on troubleshooting. For an EFL teacher the first lesson is important to establish rapport, learn each students needs and interests, and their English level. Introductory activities are very useful such as questionnaires, needs analysis, or introduction games. To help motivation, the beginning of the lesson should start with warmer activities that are fun and help the student get into English speaking. During the course of class, it will become evident that some students are quicker to learn than others. This may be due to a varying levels in language or their nature in learning. To address the problem the teacher can combine several techniques like dividing the class, having different tasks, having extra tasks, pair/group work, among others. Some students are more reluctant to participate thus the teacher can use indirect ways to participate to encourage them without putting them on spotlight. A larger class also has its own challenges but many activities and being clear can bring give the teacher assurance of everyone's participation. Other problems are using of native language and listening activities. The teacher should be flexible enough to encourage their confidence while being constant on only speaking English. Every problem has several solutions which the teacher can combine. Being prepared ahead of time will lessen the teacher's uneasiness and increase student learning.
