Teach English in Huangpo Zhen - Zhanjiang Shi
English has its own unique patterns of pronunciation, involving intonation, stress, and articulation, which all may differ among native English speakers based on where they are from. Phonology is a way of breaking down words into syllables and individual sounds for closer examination. In English, intonation does not change the meaning of the actual words, but it can change the meaning of the sentence as a whole, and indicate what type of response, if any, is expected, but it is especially useful as a non-verbal to how to interpret a speaker's message, for example if they are joking, serious, or sarcastic. In English, stress is used on syllables anywhere in a sentence for different points of emphasis, usually on verbs and/or pertinent information contained in the sentence, but usually not on articles, prepositions, or pronouns. An English sentence will usually have more unstressed than stressed syllables. Sound joining and linked speech are common ways that native English users pronounce words in common phrases while skipping or combining entire syllables, letters, or sounds, but still gets the point across in a verbal type of shorthand. Teaching tools to teach English pronunciation include the phonemic alphabet, which organizes and explains the many sounds each letter or pair of letters can make in different situations, and articulation, which is knowledge of where and how sounds are made within the body, best taught with visuals and demonstrations.
