This unit describes the different kinds of English sentences used to describe hypothetical situations, i.e. conditionals, then it explains reported or indirect speech as opposed to direct speech. It categorizes grammatical characteristics in the former which can be used to identify each kind of sentence's usage, while it identifies grammatical characteristics which appear in reported speech. By explaining these characteristics, this unit helps teachers-in-training to anticipate challenges that students will face learning this grammar. It also supplies teachers-in-training with games and activities which will help students to get used to using this grammar.
