For both modal verbs and relative clauses, teachers can use gap-fill and matching activities. Matching could either be with pictures or sentences. Teachers can also create role-play activities for both. Teachers can get students to use the language through real-life situations such as doctor-patient relationship or a police-driver talk in role-plays. Students can learn how to use (especially) modals and relative clauses much more effectivey in real-life plays. Furthermore, teachers can prepare visual materials to help students understand relative clauses better. Actually it is somewhat the same as matching, but adding visual material can help students more.
