There is a lot that goes into classroom management. I have learnt a lot about how to deal with problem students. I believe that the students have to respect the teacher and that the teacher cannot demand respect later on, so it is important to establish this from the beginning. Gestures like pointing are not good and if a teacher is to signal to a student, then he or she should use better gestures like open hand and eye contact. It is important to remember that just the right amount of eye contact should be used. Different groupings should be explored such as pair work or whole-class grouping and another important thing to be aware of is seating arrangement.
