Unit 18 Modals, Phrasal Verbs and Passive Voice In this unit I've learnt,a passive voice is used when we want to emphasize the action (the verb) and the object of a sentence rather than subject. This means that the subject is either less important than the action itself or that we don?t know who or what the subject is. Therefore it is possible to talk about the same event in two different ways, depending on whether you want to focus on the person or thing that performs the action (the agent), or the person or thing affected or produced by the action. These two ways of formulating a sentence are often referred to as the active voice and the passive voice.
