This unit covers the productive skills writing and speaking. Writing is said to be the most neglected of skills. It requires accuracy, memorization and patience. Most teachers are not fond of having hours of classroom time devoted to writing due to students losing interest and attention being diverted elsewhere. Therefore writing assignments often get sent home as homework, which in some cases never get completed. With speaking skills, accuracy and fluency are both equally important for the development of the language in students. Accuracy assignments should be regulated and controlled by the teacher, whereas fluency can be directed by the students themselves.
