In this unit we have studied the different methods and purposes of evaluating students? levels. These are: Tutorials, Evaluation by the students and Tests. The most used are Tests. Teacher needs tests to place students in the proper class ( Placement Test). To check what the students actually acquired of the language taught up to that point. (Progress Test). To find out what the students already know at the start of the course (Diagnostic Test) When the students want or need to take an external examination (examinations offered by organisations) the teacher will give them a test (Practice Test) with the same format and structure of the external examination
