This unit explains the usage and meaning of tenses in the future. Along with the past tenses, the future tenses are difficult for students to grasp, perhaps even more so because of the subtle differences in usage as well as the use for tenses in the present to indicate events in the future. For instance, it is not always clear, even to the native speaker, the differences between will and going to when speaking about future actions. On top of this, explaining to students that simple present can be used to make arrangements/plans is difficult to grapple. I know I will have to keep a print-out of this unit handy to remember the usage of each of these tenses myself.
