Pronunciation and phonology is a very critical yet often overlooked subject when teaching English. Many people claim that, among other reasons, there are too many variations in phonology to teach it effectively in a standardized way. Yet, the vast majority of English learners think of this subject as a top priority to master. This lesson goes over the importance of stress within a sentence and how the meaning of the sentence can change subtly but significantly. It also teaches a variety of methods to aid students in the study of pronunciation and phonology, while providing a literal script for teachers to use themselves to better understand English pronunciation.
