In this unit, I've learned the structure, usage and teaching methods of Past Tenses. The Past Simple describes completed action in definite time in the past. Past Continuous is mainly used for actions in progress in the past. Past Perfect relates two past actions together identifying which action started first and which followed. Past Perfect Continous also relates two moments in the past and is used when talking about action that had been going for awhile before the another moment in the past occurred. The last two past tense forms are not used very often in English but it is important to use them in class while students are learning this specific grammar point.
