This unit talks about the use of authentic versus created material in the classroom. By providing real life examples, like newspaper articles, the students can gain confidence in reading a real story instead of something made up. Whereas, with created material, such as crosswords, the students can be more engaged and can practice fluency and creativity to build up their English skills. Furthermore, this section discusses the pros and cons of working with a course book. Mainly stating that the teacher should use the course book as a guide and should definitely expand upon the lessons, games, and readings by providing their own materials to further the course book.
