This unit discusses about the general theories of learning and development, from infancy to full maturation. Here, it focuses on how we learn languages, both our native tongue (L1) and other languages (L2). I've learned that there are four major groups in learning and behavior theories. These are: maturation theory, environmental theory, constructivism, and other (like cognitive developmentalists). Young learners are designated as anyone in the age range of five to thirteen. For 5 to 9 years of age group, the attention spans are short so it is vital to keep the lesson fun and interesting. For 9 to 13 years of age group, students are more matures and disciplined.
