This unit gave a brief overview of language learning methodologies: 1-Grammar Translation Method 2-Audio Lingualism 3-Presentation, Practice and Production 4-Task-Based Learning 5- Communicative Language Approach 6-Community Language Learning 7-The Silent Way 8-Suggestopaedia 9-The Lexical Approach and 10- The ESA Method Engage,Study and Activate, which is what the ITTT Course is based upon. There are several methods of how the ESA technique can be utilized but it is most important to start with the Engage Phase and end with the Activate stage. Using many methods to get the students to talk as much as possible in English is the most important. Also correcting students and giving feedback in a respectful and gentle way without interrupting the student while speaking is emphasized. What I learned most from this unit was putting together examples of ESA lesson plans and Boomerang ESA lesson plans as was given in the Task Section of the unit. I have never taught a language before so doing those tasks really helped my mind to practice lesson planning and to think of what kinds of activities would be engaging for students.
