Authentic materials - great for out of class practice e.g. watching TV shows Created materials - useful for supplementing course books and the internet is full of created material so you don't even need to create your own. Course books -cassettes?? Out of date. Normally have CDs or downloadable audio tracks -one advantage not covered is structure. A good course book will provide a natural progression for students to learn, ensure that all key words/concepts will be covered in a logical order and introduce grammar at suitable points. -big disadvantage is students are often losing or forgetting to bring their books which is partially related to the point on students not liking the book -Good points for best use. Pretty obvious but not using the book for the entire lesson is critical. -Different options - unless the book is ideal, teachers will use all four options at various times. With omit, to omit an entire lesson is extreme, more likely to omit certain sections in a lesson. Analyzing a course book - great points. Ancillary materials to me would be the least relevant point. Students tend not to use ancillary materials.
