Unit 5 thoroughly covered how to successfully manage a classroom depending on the conditions of your classroom from class size, and the kind of students you have. It went over body language and the way we ought to gesture, look at our students, use our voices and student's names at given times; there's a different answer for each situation. We covered different ways to group students from solo work and pairwork, to whole class groupings and regular group work, and the pros and cons of each one. Classroom arrangement's importance was articulated in regards to the options of orderly rows, circles and horseshoes (for smaller classes), separate tables, and how the teacher's position matters in each scenario, trying to avoid backs to the students the entire time. Attention was touched on: how to successfully distribute attention to each student, and when to give excess. Also, when it's better for the students to be talking more, and when the teacher's speaking is more important. The unit ended with healthy ways to give instructions, establish a respectful relationship between teacher and student while also maintaining discipline.
