English is a very complex language with many written and unwritten rules. This unit focused on Identifying and categorizing the different parts of speech. The main parts of speech consist of, adjective, verb, pronoun, noun, articles, adverbs, gerunds, preposition and conjunctions. Each part of speech can be sub divided into fragments, for example, there are different types of nouns such as a common, proper, compound, abstract or collective noun. Nouns can also be classified as countable or uncountable nouns, while plurals are formed by adding ?s? or ?es? to nouns. However, there are many exceptions for conjugating plurals that are not necessarily written rules. There are two types of articles indefinite and definite. Unit two taught us when to use the word ?the? and when not to, especially when using it in a geographical context. We also learned that verbs are either transitive or intransitive and Most adverbs are formed by adding ?ly? to an adjective. Gerunds are formed when ? ing? is added to a verb used as a noun. Pronouns are sometimes used to substitute a precise noun.
