Unit 9 covers lesson planning, an essential aspect of being a teacher. This unit goes over reasons why lesson planning is important, what to focus on when planning a lesson, and how to self-evaluate after teaching a lesson. An example lesson plan is given, so that the reader can get an idea of what kind of self and student goals should be made before the lesson, and also how long each portion of the lesson will take. In unit 9, the reader learns that a lesson plan should be focused with structure and goals, but also avoid being so rigid or detailed that it prevents flexibility. At the end of the unit, the reader is asked to create their own lesson plan, as a way of practicing what they have learned. I liked the part about creating goals, because I think it is easy to forget what the goal is when there are many students in a classroom, each with different levels of English. By creating a goal, you give yourself a way to aim for something that is best for all the students in the classroom. I also think it's important for keeping records, so you can look back and confirm that you are giving students enough exposure to each topic.
