This unit provided a very large and detailed overview of the different techniques and methods of teaching. Learning about the different schools of thought on teaching methods demonstrated how many options are out there. Because teaching can be done in so many ways, it is not surpising that there are arguments over which school of thought is the best, but I can see how different types would work for different students in different scenarios. The various examples provided in the elicitation section used to guage how much a student already knows will be very helpful in the classroom. I found the ESA section very sensible and imagine it to be a very useful way to effectively teach the students a new language by allowing the learning to happen in different ways in a logical order. The examples provided were also very helpful and help in visualizing what each stage looks like in a practical sense. Additionally, I know how sensitive students can be when they are learning new things in a sometimes vulnerable state. For that reason, I find providing sensitive, thouhtgful, and strategic ways to correct the students to be very important!
