I really enjoyed watching the two videos, because they showed an example of a good lesson, by contrasting it with a bad example of teaching the same lesson. In the first video, I could see how the teacher used concepts which were beyond the students` level of comprehension, but he didn`t change his choice of words, leaving the students confused about the purpose of the lesson. Also, the teacher didn't give clear instructions or he didn't give any instructions at all, which left the students confused about what they were expected to do. Also, the teacher looked very unsatisfied/unhappy with the students` answers, didn't smile and didn't praise the students` efforts to answer his question. By contrast, the second video showed how the same lesson can be conducted in a very effective method. The teacher was smiling and encouraging the students, which made them feel comfortable and willing to participate during class. By these two examples, I could understand how much the teachers? attitudes can help or hurt student motivation, achievement and well-being. I hope I can make good use of this information in my future lessons.
