This unit covers the different types of evaluating that may be done to assess students. These evaluations fall under the category of tutorials, evaluation by the students and testing. I learnt that evaluation by the students is not only a useful way to see how the students are reacting to the lesson, but it also serves to engage the students more in the class. The unit describes the different types of testing, placement testing, diagnostic testing, progress testing, practice testing and general examinations. The unit discusses the purpose for each of these types of tests and when they are conducted. I learnt that progress tests can be carried out periodically throughout the course. Progress test are a useful tool to monitor how well the students are absorbing the lesson content and to identify any weaknesses in their understanding. Finally the unit describes the different types of examinations that currently exist, such as TOEFL, and the reason each of these examinations are conducted.
