The focus of Unit 15 is on the importance of evaluating and testing of English language learners. The Unit starts by describing the three main ways to assess a student's language level: tutorials, evaluation by the students, and tests. Next, the Unit does a deep dive into the various types of assessment tests and the value/importance of each. For example, we learn that progress tests should be used periodically to assess what language has been acquired or forgotten; likewise, we learn that practice tests should be used for revision purposes as well as preparation for external examinations. Lastly, the Unit provides us with an example placement test that shows how all four language skills are tested as well as the progressive (easy to hard) nature of this type of test.
