Given that the culmination of this certification course is to write a lesson plan, I was really hoping for something a bit more substantial in the lesson on lesson planning, but I suspect that there will be more valuable information in future lessons to help fill in whatever gaps there are. It seems that while lesson planning is important to the process of teaching, lesson plans themselves are not necessarily to be rigidly adhered to. I was surprised that the age group of students didn't factor into lesson planning. Maybe I misunderstood, but it seems like that would be an important thing to consider. I also thought that the culture of the students would factor into lesson planning more heavily. I would imagine that you'd lesson plan differently for Asian students as compared with Latino students. One final comment: I would possibly suggest moving lesson planning to one of the last lessons for the 120 hour course, simply because the capstone of the course is writing a lesson plan and then this module would be fresh in people's heads with less time to data dump what they've learned here before having to put it into practice.
