This unit covered Equipment and Teaching Aids. I took on board, important knowledge of what sort of equipment is still used in the classroom, some of which coincided with my experience while some surprised me a little (cassette player, OHP etc.) I thought a lot about what my personal teaching techniques would involve and I think I would be very keen on using IWBs or just a whiteboard. I would use resource books and coursebooks. I think I would be very careful about using DVDs and CDs as they may be inefficient in terms of finding the correct position and replaying parts etc. As with all technology items, it is important to be sure to practice with them and be well prepared, including a backup as part of your plan. I think visual aids would be a simple and effective resource and I would likely use printouts and magazine clippings frequently. I'm sure students favour using their phones and I don't see any problem with them recording conversations on video to analyse and learn from. There are lots of different pieces of equipment to use in aid of teaching and the trick, I feel, will be to work out what works best for the given class.
