I learned that there will be difficulty translating speaking skills to writing skills as the English language has many words that are pronounced the same but are not spelled the same. The spoken language also used contractions that are not used in the written form which may be confusing. English is not a phonetic language either which can further cause issues with writing skills. Students need to be engaged and interested in order to develop these skills as some of the difficulties they may face will be discouraging. They will need to receive positive feedback and have a varied range of topics to work from to maintain interest.
