This unit dealt with past tenses and divided them up into categories. This is a bit strange for an English speaker as we tend to lump all past actions into one category called \"the past\" without separating the simple, continuous, and perfect variations. Once again I am reminded how many verbs are irregular and how hard that is going to be to teach students. The problem with past tense is that some sentences seem to be a combination of categories. To me, \"I was dancing\" seems very close to \"I had been dancing\" even though one is continuous and one is past perfect continuous. It is all more complicated than it appears.
