The unit clearly demonstrates how the attitude of the teacher impacts the lesson in positive and negative ways. The first lesson is to smile, which seems obvious but may be difficult if the teacher is also nervous. Learning student names and proper pronunciation is also important because it shows the teacher respects the students and wants to engage. Making students feel comfortable is necessary if the teacher wants them to participate. While there may be a couple quieter students, on the whole most of the students should be engaged. Lastly, it is important to provide correction in a positive and encouraging tone of voice.
