In Unit 7: Teaching New Language, we learnt how to prepare lessons on vocabulary, grammar and language functions. We learnt that grammar and vocabulary classes tend to be structured around the 'Straight Arrow Approach.' In this lesson it is stated that students must be exposed to English, understand its meaning, understand how its constructed and be able to practice and reproduce it, in order to be able to learn to speak it properly. I thought it was interesting that students tend to know more vocabulary than they are able to use, as I definitely know that this is true for me when I hear/speak French, which is my second language.
