The unit begins by noting that planning of lessons could make the lesson a more teacher centred lesson and that too much planning can make the lesson rather rigid and stop the teacher being flexible to students needs but also advises that inexperienced teachers might find difficulties in being flexible to students needs and thus should plan lessons to give it direction.It also suggest a number of important functions to consider in writing a lesson plan; an aid to planning, a working document for reference and a record to help remember what has been taught and what materials have been used. The unit takes a detailed look at; how a lesson plan should be written down, benefits of being organized, a number of aspects that should be included in a lesson plan and self monitoring of lessons in order to help improve on teaching skills and make classes as enjoyable as possible. From this unit I have learnt how important it is to keep my lesson plan simple,structured and flexible to ease adaptation when necessary.I have also learnt how to be organized which can actually enhance rapport between teacher and students, for example, being ready to chat to students as they come into the class could detensify the atmosphere and help get students in the mood to learn.The unit has also detailly explained to me the importance of including all the aspects of a lesson plan in a standard format.It is now clear to me that a self-evaluation could help me improve my teaching skills and keep my classes enjoyable.
