This unit was about evaluating students and the different kinds of evaluation that is expected to be used. First teachers use placement tests in order to place students into the most suitable class for them. Diagnostic tests are similar to placement tests but go into more detail to allow the teacher to see how much the students already know. Progress tests ensure that students have learned the applicable language skills covered in a specific period of time. Progress tests need not be entirely formal as students can make assessments through games as well as formal tests. Practice tests are used to prepare students for external tests and as such are formal in nature.
