As a native speaker, I am actually really surprised to find out that I couldn't tell the difference between present simple, perfect, and continuous forms. It took a lot of studying and reading and thinking for me to finally get a grasp of it. I imagine this is how my students feel upon learning these for the first time. It can be overwhelming. Like my students, I got caught up in the 'have ever' 'been' 'not' and all these words that make me assume there was only one present tense. I'm very glad that I've taken this course. Now that I have a better grasp on the different perfect tenses, I feel like I can better explain them to my students so that they can understand.
