The future tense system is an incredibly complex area of the English language. As was the case with the present, and past tense systems, there are four major tenses; simple, continuous, perfect, and perfect continuous, but with the future tenses, there are additional tenses to learn, with the other major three covered in this unit being; 'Be going + infinitive', present simple, and present continuous. The 'be going + infinitive' tense is also called 'going to future' and is formed with 'to be' in the present + going to + base form of verb. Present continuous and present simple follow their own standard form but become part of future tense when a future time is used.
