Unit 11 focuses on teaching the receptive skills of reading and listening. The unit outlines the reasons for reading and listening and the difference forms of specialist skills in this area. The unit then continues to highlight problem areas and how to best overcome these issues. The lesson then gives examples of ESA lessons to develop skills in this area. This unit has provided me with a better understanding of how to teach the receptive skills of reading and listening. I have developed a deeper understanding of the issues involved and how to overcome them. I also realized the importance of providing a balanced lesson involving both receptive and productive skills.
