In this unit I learned the fundamentals of teaching the productive skills (i.e. writing and speaking). I found it helpful, as the unit taught me to consider different reasons that students would have difficulty with, or decide against, using these skills in class. I realised the many facets that make up written production, and how daunting that may be for students. This has lead me to a greater understanding of how much help I will need to give, and how much patience I ought to have with students. Also, at the beginning of the unit, it was said that written production is often not practiced enough in ESL courses. This is something that I will be mindful of in future.
