This unit went over some basic theories on the teaching of a language, including their benefits and drawbacks. It introduced Engage-Study-Activate (ESA) as this curriculum's preferred method and explained the ideas behind each stage in the method. It offered points, such as elicitation, that are important to know when teaching a lesson. It went into detail on each stage and offered suggestions of activities for each stage. It also mentioned that it does not have to be used in a straight E-S-A approach but the stages can be rearranged as long as it starts with an Engage and ends with an Activate. I learned a great deal about ESA and how to implement it in a classroom.
