Unit 14 taught me about the use of books and materials in class. Teachers are different and it varies how much they rely on the course book, but a good teacher should always keep an eye out for how the learning process can be improved by for example adding created material to the lesson. This can be done in two ways; authentic material such as news papers, films, songs - any text that you can hear or read in daily life, and material created by the teacher such as flash cards, crosswords, word searches, role play cards etc. The unit listed many ideas and tips on how to teach with created material. It also went advantages, disadvantages and how to best use course books.
