Teach English in Fenghuang Zhen - Xingtai Shi
Someone has written that the printing press and writing were involved too soon in the English language...that if it had been left alone another 50-100 years we would not have the spelling/pronunciation problems we face today. The IPA presents a challenge to me especially when trying to read script from it: why are two unconnected symbols used to make one sound? why use a number instead of a character? what does one do for capitals? will this make spelling more difficult for students (or will we eventually change and use only IPA)? This chapter presented many new concepts (challenges) for me and I realize I've been unaware of stress and intonation, in particular.
