This unit appealed to me very much for many reasons and has reminded me of some advantages and disadvantages to sticking to a pre-designed course content for teaching. I have learned very much regarding the differences between authentic and created material as well, as well as the advantages and disadvantages surrounding the use of course books; however, what I have learned most is that there needs to be a balance between course book use and authentic and/or created material use. What appealed to me most regarding course material use is the emphasis on keeping the course content interesting and tailored to student needs. Obviously, authentic material use is appropriate because it provides visual and topical quality that can be used for all levels of learning and can also spark an interest in the learning of English. Created material likewise can have the same advantage - though, the better advantage to this is that created material can also make course material supplementation more specific and can keep the entire class time more organized and fluent, allowing the teacher to help the students to accomplish learning goals efficiently.
