Unit 5 focuses on the various aspects of class management. The teacher can employ eye contact, gesture and their voice to appropriately convey their message to the class. The contents of the lesson are also made further effective in different activities or stages of the class by using appropriate classroom arrangement, and grouping of students - whether that be for individual work, pair work or whole class grouping. It's important to establish your position as the head of the class, but that must not override the need for differing levels of teacher involvement during different stages of the class. Different activities require different levels of class participation for both teacher and students. Likewise, it's necessary to give individual attention to all students when needed, and to strike a balance between teacher talking time and student talking time. While it's of equal importance to maintain discipline and react appropriately and calmly to problematic behaviour in the classroom, you must first establish rapport with your students and be consistent and reasonable with your rules. The students will imitate what the teacher models.
