In this lesson, I have learned about many different teaching methods and the theories behind them. They range from grammar and translation styles, to task based learning and even silent methods. One of the most effective teaching methods is the engage, study, and activate method of teaching. There are also three different structures to ESA which include the ?Straight arrow? ESA lessons to the ?Boomerang? and ?Patchwork? style lessons. I have also learned that there is a time and a place to make corrections. Mistakes and errors are not the same. It is more effective to either let the student correct themselves or allow the class to correct another student?s mistake before the teacher steps in and makes corrections. Teachers should correct mistakes within the point we were teaching on that day as well as mistakes that are commonly repeated in the class to avoid bad habits. We should also correct mistakes that severely alter the ability to be understood. Teachers should not jump into a student?s speech to make corrections. It is better to allow them to finish their statements before correcting them.
