This unit begins with different types of methodology's and which ones are best to use in certain situations. Each methodology is beneficial in certain aspects, for example Audio-lingualism, which concentrates on long repetition drills to help student's use the language correctly. Unfortunately, every methodology has its pros and cons. Later throughout the unit, I learnt about Engage, Study and Activate (ESA)The Engage stages main goal is to get the students to interact and engage them. The Study stage is where the students focus on the construction of the language, and the Activate stages focus is more on fluency than accuracy with no restrictions on language usage. There are different ways to teach the 3 ESA methods, including a 'StraighArrow','Boomerang', and 'Patchwork' ES lesson. There are many different activities you can do when teaching, it is important to try and not make lessons too predictable either. Finally, I learnt about Correction Techniques, who should correct, what should teachers correct,etc. Each teacher teaches differently, but it is still important to follow some of the basic rules that were taught throughout this unit.
