Speaking and Writing are called Teaching Productive Skills in English. They are substantially different in many ways, they both used for the same purpose-to communicate. As a teacher, we should prepare some different kinds of activities in our speaking lesson such as, Drill, Prompting, Model Dialogues, Guided Role-Play, Debates. Also teachers should encourage students to speak and interact during a lesson such as, Pair-work, Group-work, plenty of controlled and guided practice before fluency activities, Making speaking activities purposeful, Change the classroom dynamics, Careful planning, With certain activities you may need to allow students time to think about what they are going to say. In my opinion, teachers should generate interest in a topic. Try to relate the topic to the students? daily activities; Set up the topic that the students know the aims of the topic and what they are to do, this means that giving clear instructions and checking that they have been understood; Make sure that students have enough time to prepare; Make the topic even more process rather than product. Use necessary materials such as pictures, comics, etc.
