Unit 9 is focused on the lesson planning, the why and how. Especially for an inexperienced teacher, a lesson plan provides a helpful flexible structure to refer to. It works as a record of what areas were covered, it helps to prepare logistically, and it gives us a chance to roughly time each stage of the ESA in order to smoothly complete the prescribed material within the timeframe. Flexibility is the key, and there is a necessary amount of adjustment needed based on how the lesson progresses, but such a plan is a backbone of the session, and will keep us on track of the students' and our own objectives. An important part of the lesson planning is to foresee any potential difficulties the students may have with the subject, and ahead of the time think of possible solutions to remedy them. Having a premeditated answer to a problem that may arise would go a long way in minimising the delays and would help both pupils and the teacher to remain focused. Having our planned activities and exercises written down will help to see the amount of student and teacher talk time needed, and make sure the flow of the lesson is natural and well balanced.
