This unit explained the function of modal auxiliary verbs, the structure and flexibility of active and passive sentences, relative clauses, and phrasal verbs. Implementing these grammatical structures and using them across the course of the lessons (once introduced) will help speakers learn more formal, complex, and native sentence structures.Modal auxiliary verbs, passive voice, clauses and phrasal verbs can all be complicated and confusing to students. However, it is possible to teach them a little at a time to help the class understand. After teaching it is a good idea to use them causally in regular class conversation to help the students become more familiar with the concepts.
