The importance of context, culture, and ways to teach the meaning of words and phrases was stressed in this unit. Without saying what the meaning of a word might be in the students' native language, the unit offers ways a teacher could present new vocabulary. As always, the unit encourages the teacher to offer the chance for students to discover the meaning on their own. Listening skills and reading skills are discussed in depth. A point that was stressed was often with listening, there is no text for students to take their time to analyze. In a classroom setting, a recording or video could be played a number of times and a teacher can repeat themselves. There is not always this opportunity in real life. It would be interesting to do a lesson focusing on listening to native speakers talk about a subject.
