This unit effectively demonstrated the differences between a \"good\" teacher and a \"poor\" teacher. I found myself somewhat upset during the first video and scribbling a couple pages of notes on what the teacher was doing wrong. I was very frustrated that the students were not being helped and engaged with. The teacher's attitude is a huge factor in the effectiveness of a lesson, as it affects student engagement and retention. Putting in the effort to get to know the students (even just learning their names) is very important for fostering the teacher/student relationship. The unit as a whole was very encouraging in that I'm confident in my ability to recognize poor teaching practices. I've learned that I enjoy coming up with alternative and more effective activities and methods to get a lesson across.
