Teaching pronunciation and phonology is often a subject overlooked or not given enough attention in class as this unit stresses it would be good to equip students with many skills as they can use aids like the oxford dictionary to not only get correct spelling but have a better understanding of how to pronounce the word with the phonetic alphabet reference. Things to consider when teaching this subject are how stressing words can change the context of a sentence, with intonation how the rise and fall of speech can indicate the difference between a statement or a question for example. Also sound joining can teach the importance of pronunciation in addition to word examples that have different meanings but sound the same, this in itself would be a great example of stressing the importance of pronunciation.
