This unit gave an overview and basic knowledge on teachers and learners, as well as their relationships and roles. A good teacher will be more concerned about her students than her teaching. She will be kind, patient, motivating, lively, with good subject mastery and class room management. Likewise, a good student will be willing to try new things, listen to the language, speak the language, ask questions and receive feedback. Adult learners and young learners vary in motivation, discipline, attention span and behavior. Both adult learners and young learners can vary in level; such as Beginner, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate, and Advanced. A good teacher will be able to guide a student, whether adult or young learner, through each stage with kindness and proficiency.
